Under the gate

This man, bearing the three horizontal stripes that represent devotion to Shiva, has an impressive collection of betel nuts around his neck. His smile was truly inspiring. After a night of travel to reach this temple in Tiruvannamalai at daybreak I was feeling distinctly groggy. But his smile was a great wakener.
