Snake Catcher with a Rat Snake

Raja, a snake catcher, stands holding a rat snake which he caught earlier in the day. The rat snake is not poisonous but is reputed to have a painful bite, largely due to bacteria in its mouth. Rat snakes look similar to cobras but are much quicker. Interestingly, Raja showed me a thing or two about how to catch snakes as he explained how he got into the business. He now makes a living from capturing snakes that venture into homes and gardens. He may have passed on some of his knowledge but I'd still feel happier photographing snakes than trying to capture one!
