Stuart Forster is a photographer and features writer.
His images and stories have recently appeared in publications including The Washington Post, The Age and Sydney Morning Herald and the Real Travel magazine. One of his features, on the Kaveri river of southern India, was nominated for the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Gold Awards (2007).
His photographic work appears in books such as Dresden (Bradt Guides, 2007), The Seventy Wonders of China (Thames & Hudson, 2007), Uebelsetzungen (Langenscheidt, 2007), China - A Visual Adventure (Carlton, 2008) and China - Eine Bildreise (National Geographic, 2008). He made a significant contribution to the text of Bengaluru and Karnataka (Stark World Publishing, 2008), visiting several jungle resorts, adventure sport operators, hotels and restaurants in the process of researching the book.
Interested in travel and photo-journalism, Stuart believes that photographic images are more than just documentary; they can inform and lead to greater understanding of the world. Photographs can bring people to question what is happening around them and in distant lands. Images can engender interest in places, people and cultures.
He enjoys the travelling to photograph and research stories, and the challenge of capturing the spirit and feel of places and events.
While travelling, Stuart enjoys trying local cuisines, delving into history, art and experiencing the soul and contemporary attractions of destinations.
A selection of Stuart's images were exhibited at the 2006 Pingyao International Photography Festival in China.
He is interested in discussing future projects, obtaining new commissions and opportunities to exhibit. Feel free to make contact.
